CS writes to International Secretary for evacuation of J&Ok residents from Oman, Dubai and Iran
Srinagar, Might 16: Chief Secretary B. V. R. Subrahmanyam has written a letter to International Secretary, Harsh Vardhan Shringla (IFS), looking for the evacuation of the residents of Jammu and Kashmir stranded in Oman, Dubai and Iran.
“The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has also received requests from its residents stranded in Oman, Dubai and Iran for their early evacuation,” reads the letter, as per international information company.
“Their prolonged stay abroad during the COVID-19 Pandemic has made them restless and fearful of catching the disease in a foreign country,” it mentioned.
“They are also desirous of celebrating Eid festival, which is, approaching on 25 May in Jammu and Kashmir,” the letter mentioned.
“I would, therefore, request your personal intervention in prioritizing the evacuation of residents of Jammu and Kashmir stranded in Oman, Dubai and Iran,” the letter mentioned.
He mentioned as a part of the ‘Vande Bharat Mission’, college students of Jammu and Kashmir stranded in Bangladesh are being evacuated to Srinagar. “This step has been greatly appreciated by the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.(GNS)
